RUGBY LEAGUE TOUR
THE NEW ZEALAND TEAM Tho appointment of selectors for the New Zealand team to tour England in July this season was discussed for some timo by the New Zealand Rugby League committee last evening. It was decided that the selection committee should consist of three—a representative from the North Island, one from the South Island and an official from the New Zealand Council.
The president, Mr. J. A. Redwood, said that the question was an important one and deserved careful consideration. Mr. H. Wilson expressed thi> opinion that a sole selector would give every satisfaction, bat tho recommendation of the propaganda committee for threo selectors was perhaps a wise plan. Mr. R. Doble, Auckland, wag assured that a New Zealand selector would have the equal power of the inter-island seleotora. In dealing with the inter-Island selectors for the trial games prior to tho final selection of the New Zealand team, there was considerable difference of opinion, and three selectors were eventually appoiinted for each island. The visit of the Eastern Suburbs team to play a series of matches in Auckland at Easter was approved. The Auckland Rugby League advised that arrangements for the visit had been made through Mr. R. Stehr. Twelve players would be coming; from Eastern Suburbs and the balance from Balmain, with perhaps another prominent player. It was mentioned that the net proceeds of the matches would be donated to the Auckland clubs' injured players' insurance fund. It was announced that Messrs. J. A. Redwood and H. Wilson would attend the annual meetings of the Canterbury and West Coast leagues.
