AIR SERVICE HELD UP
STRONG NORTHERLY WINDS FLIGHTS OVER COOK STRAIT [by telegraph—OWN correspondent] WELLINGTON. Sunday Strong northerly winds up to 75 miles an hour at times interrupted the schedule of Cook Strait Airways machines yesterday. Three return trips between Blenheim and Wellington were abandoned.
Two machines left early in the morning, one going to Nelson and the other to Blenheim. One machine returned at 8.15 a.m. from Nelson, and the other from Blenheim at 9 a.m. The company temporarily postponed the scheduled flights. Machines due at 10 a.m., 10.30 a.m. and 2 p.m. did not arrive, and those due out at 10.15 a.m., 10.45 a.m. and 2.15 p.m. did not leave. The services were resumed for the rest of the afternoon, but the machines were running late.
Union Airways ran to schedule during the day.
