SUCCESSES OFF WHANGAROA LARGEST MARLIN OF SEASON [llY TELEGRAPH —OWN CORRESPONDENT] WHANGAROA, Tuesday The largest deep-sea fish to be landed this season on the Whangarba grounds was secured off the Cavalli Islands by Mr. J. A. Hepburn, of Te Aroha. It was a 6<'solb. black marlin swordfish and provided a spectacular fight that lasted for four hours. In the same area Mr. A. D. Jones landed a 2521b. striped marlin, while other successes include a 2601b. mako obtained by Dr. R. L.. Sutton, of Kansas Citv, and a 2721b. striped marlin brought in by Mr. T. M. Smith, of Wellington. Members of the Whangaroa Swordfish and Big-game Fish Club were recently entertained at a dinner by Dr. W. R. Lawrence, of Te Aroha. A social function followed the dinner.
