LOSS OF RIGHT ARM

WAIPU BUSH ACCIDENT VICTIM DIES IN HOSPITAL [by TELEGRAPH—OWN correspondent] WHANGAREI. Wednesday The death occurred in the Whangarei Hospital early this morning of Mr. Robert Brooks, of Waipu, aged 40, whose right arm was so seriously injured when caught in the cog-wheels of a log hauler on tho hills at the hack of Waipu yesterday afternoon that it had to be amputated. An inquest was opened by the district coroner, Mr. G. H. Morrish, this morning and adjourned. Mr. Brooks was born at Silverdalo and was for a time at New Lynn with his parents before coming to Waipu 28 years ago. While still in his teens Mr. Brooks served overseas with the New Zealand Expeditionary Force and was severely wounded at Passchendaele. On returning to Waipu lie followed bush work. .He is survived by his wife.
