All the toll lines are being deviated io the' new building, and the test board and associate equipment are almost completely wired. It was stflied to-day by Sir. T. E.. Thompson, district telegraph engineer, Hamilton, that the toll switch board wo'uld provide improved facilities for handling the traffic and would enable a greater number of operators to be employed to cope with the heavy and increasing pressure of work. Other works now on baud in the new exchange building ineludo the installation of several powerful batteries, which are being installed in conjunction with the carrier telephone equipment. These will provide extra outlets to Auckland, Na'pier and other centres. A 100 individual lino automatic extension has now been completed and sufficient equipment for this class of service to meet current demands is now available. Equipment for a further 600 line extension is coming to hand.
