FRENCH ARMY DOG
SOLDIERS' " POSTMAN " DEATH IN ALPINE FORT PARIS, Oct. 20 One of the world's most famous animals, the French army dog Flambeau, died yesterday at Solieres Fort, near Grenoble. The fort is in the Alps, at a height of 9000 ft. For eight years, Flambeau carried tip the Chasseurs' mail and was often the only winter-time link with the fort. Ho was "retired" in 1937 because of ago. Yesterday he apparently sensed the approach of death, and made for the fort of his own volition. He died soon after arrival.
