BOXING IN ENGLAND

NEW ZEALANDER'S SUCCESS STRICKLAND DEFEATS KLEIN (Received October 25, 5.5 p.m.) LONDON, Oct. 24 The New Zealand heavy-weight boxer Maurice Strickland scored a whirlwind victory at Plymouth over the German, Erwin Klein, the referee stopping the fight in the fourth round when the German was unconscious after being knocked down six times in the preceding rounds. George Cook was disqualified at Nottingham for striking Jack Robinson at the end of the ninth round after the bell had sounded.

Since his visit to America, Strickland has shown marked improvement, and he is now looked on as an outstanding contender for the British Empire title.
