TRADE TALKS
BRITAIN AND AMERICA RUMOURS OF BREAKDOWN TARIFF CONCESSIONS WANTED FURTHER NEGOTIATION LIKELY By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright LONDON, Oct. 24 In spito of alleged optimism at Washington, it is learned that fresh demands by the United States for tariff concessions have resulted in the almost complete breakdown of the trade talks between Britain and America, states the correspondent of the Australian Associated Press. Diplomatic departments on both sides are most disturbed at the prospects of a breakdown because of the tremendous repercussions that would result. Their vigorous activity will probably ensure the treaty being ultimately signed.
