THIRD ANNIVERSARY

BUSINESS GIRLS' LUNCHEON TALK ON RIO DE JANEIRO In describing some aspects of life at Rio de Janeiro at the business girls' luncheon yesterday, Mrs. St. Clair Woollains said the heat was so great that the people could not work during the middle part of the day, but had to spend some hours resting or sleeping. The men wore white suits for nine months of the year. No flowers would grow in the city, but it had a very attractive appearance, because of the luxurious growth of green foliage. A daily supply of flowers and fruit was obtained from Petropolis, situated at a higher level, about 45 miles from Bio do Janeiro, Mrs. Woollams said. The flowers, although extremely beautiful, had no perfume. During luncheon Mrs. Woollams cut the birthday cake, the occasion being the third anniversary of the inauguration of the fortnightly luncheons. Mr. Bobert Milne presided.
