CONCERN AT TAURANGA ■■i V " FRUIT BEING DESTROYED [BY TKLEGRAFH —OWN CORBESrONDT.NT ] TAT7RANGA, Tuesday Concern at the plight of the citrus industry was expressed at a meeting of the Tauranga branch of the Farmers' Union. It was decided to seek a declaration of policy from the provincial and Dominion executives regarding the interests of citrus growers, as the industry was threatened witb , financial ruin and extinction, Mr. G. Burbery said that while re ports indicated that lemons were retailing at 2s a dozen in the South Island, growers were' receiving less than 4s a case for the fancy and extra fancy grades. Lower grades were un marketable at a wholesale price sufficient to cover "the cost of cases, cur ing. transport and other incidentals In many instances growers were destroying large quantities of good fruit
