It was decided to seek a declaration of policy from the provincial and Dominion executives regarding the interests of citrus growers, as the industry was threatened witb , financial ruin and extinction, Mr. G. Burbery said that while re ports indicated that lemons were retailing at 2s a dozen in the South Island, growers were' receiving less than 4s a case for the fancy and extra fancy grades. Lower grades were un marketable at a wholesale price sufficient to cover "the cost of cases, cur ing. transport and other incidentals In many instances growers were destroying large quantities of good fruit
