COUNTRY STOCK SALES

FKANKTON QUOTATIONS ADVANCE IN FAT EWES BULLOCKS MAKE TO £ls/5/[fbom OUR own* correspondent] HAMILTON, Tuesday An average yarding of fat sheep came forward at the weekly stock sale at Frankton to-day, but the market was quiet, and prices for wethers were (Tasief than last Meek. There was a bettor demand for fat eues, and in most cases recent values were maintained. A small entry of woolly hoggets sold at recent rates, the demand coming from graziers. Store sheep were slow of sale. Conijictition for all classes ol cattle was firm, and last week's quotations were maintained. The offering: was smaller, with ox beef in short supply* most of the entry comprising light prime steers. Cow beef met a sternly demand, only second quality coming forward. Boner cows and potter bulls sold fully tip to scheduled rates, a total clearance resulting. Satisfactory prices were received for a full entry of vealers. There was a heavy yarding of all classes of fat pigs, with prices for baconers steady at late rales. Porkers showed a firming tendency, unfinished lines being in keen demand. Competition for store and weaner pigs, of which there was a full yarding, was not as keen as at recent sales owing to the dry spell. Prices were slightly easier.
