THE UNIVERSITY
ACADEMIC BOARD SESSION IN AUCKLAND PROCEEDINGS OPEN TO-DAY Representatives from the four university colleges in the Dominion, from Canterbury Agricultural College, Lincoln, and Massey Agricultural College, Palmerston North, will attend the annual meeting of the Academic Board of the University of New Zealand, which will open at Auckland University College to-day. Meetings of the board are called to discuss matters of academic interest, and aro held in a different centre each year. The board consists of the vice-chan-cellor of the University of New Zealand. the chairman and two members of each of the professorial boards of the constituent colleges, eight members elected by the professors of the university, and one member elected by the staffs of Canterbury and Massey Agricultural Colleges. Members who have already arrived include the vice-chancellor, Professor T. A. Hunter, Mr. I. F. McKenzie, registrar of the University of New Zealand, Professors B. E. Murphy, and J. Williams (Victoria), A. H. Tocker (Canterbury), R. J. T. Bell and D. W. Carmalt Jones (Otago). The remaining members are expected to arrive by train this morning. The chairman of the professorial board of Canterbury University College. Professor J. Hight, will preside at the meetings, which will open this morning and conclude on Friday. Courses of study followed at the various colleges, and the subject matter and cohduct of examinations, are the particular function of the board, which also has power to make recommends tions to the Senate of the University of New Zealand regarding any matter affecting the university.
