OLD MAORI IMPLEMENT

While cutting a drain on his property at tho western end of Tenth Avenue, Mr. Alexander Styart found embedded in the swamp u Maori planter and paddle combined. It is a little oyer sft. in length, is made of tea-tree and is in an excellent state of preservation. The footrest for driving the planter into tho ground is very solid and tho blade is as good as tho Wy it was in use. The implement was buried about 4ft. \ It -is Mr. Stuart's intention to i Present the planter to the local < museum.
