PLANS FOR AUCKLAND TRAINING CENTRE IN CITY USE OF HOBSONVILLE BASE [BY TKT.ICGRAI'H —-SPKCIAL HEPORTKIt] WELLINGTON, Friday Details regarding tlio formation ot the territorial air force .squadron at .Auckland were given in an interview to-day by the Minister of Defence, the Hon. F. .Jones. Tho squadron is to lie e(|nipped with Baffin aircraft and will operate from the Air Force base at Hobsonville. "The three top floors of the Jiangs Box Factory building in St. Paul Street, off Wakefield Street, have been leased for use as (he training and administrative centre of the unit," said Ali:. .Jones. "Steps are being taken to ■subdivide these floors in order to provide instructional rooms for fitters and wireless personnel, general lecture and social rooms, and the necessary administrative offices. As a temporary measure, the building will also accommodate u part of the meteorological section of the Department of Scientific and Industrial Ilesearcli." Jones, announced to-day a number of candidates had been recently approved for enrolment in tho civil reserve of pilots and that their training had been commenced with aero clubs.
