DOMINION MOTORS, LIMITED
ASSEMBLY .WORKS PLANNED
Immediate stops are being taken by Dominion Motors, Limited, to erect a large assembly factory on a property it has purchased from the Buck] and Estate in Mortimer Pass, Newmarket, comprising an acre and a-half. The price the company has paid for the property, which is without buildings, is not disclosed. The new factory is to coyer about an acre and a-quarter and it should represent a substantial addition to Auckland's industries.
The assembly works will be of a single storey built in concrete. It will have a saw-tooth roof with southern lighting, while the^north and east sides will be extensively provided- with win- Kdows according to modern design. XW feature will be the comparative freedom from pillars for roof support. Provision will be made for machinery and travelling cranes, which must be capable in the receiving area of handling 350 cars. The building will have two frontages, one being to Mortimer Pass and the other to a small unnamed lane.
The contractor, N. Cole, Limited, has already started on the clearance of the site, and no time will be lost in commencing operations on the building, which is to be completed by January 1 next. It is not the intention of Dominion Motors, Limited, to move its present headquarters from Albert Street.
