! PASSENGERS ON NIAGARA i j CONFERENCE IN AUSTRALIA Noted personalities in religious life | in the United States, Dr. Jesse M. i Bader, Dr. D. A. Poling and Dr. H. ! N. Holmes, will reach Auckland by the Niagara on Monday on their way I to Australia. Dr. Bader, who is seere- | tary of the world conference of ! Churches of Christ and secretary of | the committee of evangelism of the Federal Council of Churches of America, will attend a conference of Churches of Christ to be held in Melbourne.
Dr. Poling, who is al.so a prominent ; public figure, is world president of the I Christian Endeavour Movement and is i minister of the Baptist Temple Church, j Philadelphia. Dr. Holmes is also con- i nected with the Christian Endeavour Movement, of which ho is honorary j world secretary. A meeting with those distinguished i visitors has been arranged by the Auek-j land Ministers' Association and will be! held at the Pitt Street Methodist j Church parlour on Monday afternoon. I It is understood that the possibility of holding an evangelistic campaign j simultaneously throughout the world j in 1940 will be discussed by the visitors, j In connection with the visit of Dr. | Bader. the Dominion president of the; Churches of Christ, Mr. \\ • I. Wilson, \ of Dunedin, and the chairman of the Dominion executive council ot the j Church of Christ, Mr. M. \ ickerv, will i arrive in Auckland this morning. A distinguished missionary in India, ] Dr. Stanley Jones, will also be present j at the conference in Melbourne and will j later pass through Auckland on his j return to the United States. He is well-known as the author ot "Christ on the Indian I'oad ' and other books.
