COLERIDGE TUNNEL LEAK

REQUEST TO MINISTER PUBLICATION OF REPORT [BT TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION] CHRISTCHURCH, Thursday Tho Minister of Public Works, the Hon. R. Semple, will be asked by the Canterbury Chamber of Commerce to make public a complete report on the nature of the possible difficulties at the Lake Coleridge power station. This was decided hv the council of tho chamber this evening, when a report was received from the electricity vigilance committee.

"The committee has considered the Minister's announcement that a leakage of water in the adit from the tunnel at Lake Coleridge threatens the power supply," stated the report. "In view of the importance of electric suitply to consumers throughout the province tho committee recommends that the chamber address a communication to the Minister asking him to place before the public at the earliest possible moment a complete report on the situation, if a power breakdown occurs everyone in the province is affected. "If such a possibility faces Canterbury, the fullest publicity should be given and immediate steps taken to provide alternative facilities and arrangements made for the supplying of essential industries and transport sorvices."
