PURCHASES OF LAND
AREAS IN AUCKLAND SITES FOR 75 DWELLINGS ANOTHER BLOCK AT HAMILTON | BY TKLKU K A I'll —fiI'KCIAT, I'.EPOHTKII] WELLI NO TON, Thursday Advice has been received by Mr. W. P. Endean, M.P. for I'arnell, from Mr. J. A. Lee, Parliamentary Under-Sec-retary in charge of housing, that the Cabinet has approved of the purchase of an area of land for housing purposes situated in Long Drive and Challiner Road, St. llolicrs. The area will be sufficient for the erection of five house units. Further details of housing plans affecting the Auckland district were also announced to-day by Mr. Lee. Ho stated that a contract for the erection of 11 houses at New Lynn had been awarded to Mr. T. F. l'laylair, and that Mr. G. Giles had secured a contract for tho erection of a single house I unit at Muntly.
Dealing with the acquisition of land Mr. Leo announced the purchase of the folhftving housing sites: —An area in Walsall Street, Avondale, sufficient for six houses; areas in Seaview Terrace, Woodward Road and William Street, Mount Albert, sufficient for 14 houses; areas in Alverton Road, Great North Road, Point Chevalier Road, Moa Street, Kiwi Road and Rama Road, Point Chevalier, sufficient for approximately 50 houses; also an area in Richmond Avenue, Selwyn and Park Streets and Park Terrace, Hamilton, sufficient for 30 houses.
