ONE TOO MANY
LOTS DRAWN FOE SEAT
THAMES VALLEY BOARD DISSATISFACTION EXPRESSED [llY TELEGRAPH—OWN CORRESPONDENT] TE AROHA, Wednesday Exception was taken by some members at yesterday's meeting of the .Thames Valley Electric-power Board to the method of settling the question of representation on the board. .V representative for the Waihi borough was elected on May 31, Mr. H. L. Houghton being successful, and under the Act it had to he left to the To .Aroha and Thames representatives, Messrs. C. A. Arthur and H. It. Bush, to decide between them who should resign- so as to reduce tho number of members to tho 12 allowed, failing which tho matter would be settled by drawing lots. " Two individuals should not have the right to disfranchise their electors," said Mr. W. C. Kennedy. "The whole thing is wrong." Mr. Kennedy said it would be most unfair for either borough to be disfranchised because its member expressed willingness to stand down.
As no decision had been readied by the two members concerned, it was necessary to draw lots to decide the matter, Mr. H. R. Bush being successful.
On the motion of the chairman, it was decided to place on record the board's appreciation of the services of Mr. Arthur.
