It would bo interesting to know what Gordon Richards, receives in retaining foes in England. Ho has four retainers this season, their order being: Beckhampton stable (F. Darling); Lord' Astor, M. Hartigan and'Lord'Portal. In addition, lie has promised to ride the horses trained, by S. Darling, Fred Templeman and Miss Norah Wilinot when possible. Other riding engagements are ,T. Crouch for King George, who has 14 horses in training, M. Beary for Lord Glahely, and B. Oarslake for the Hon. G. Lambton's. stiible. Carslake purposes retiring as a jockey at the close of this season. He won the Doncaster Handicap 011 Famous, at Rand wick, in 1905. < THE GREAT NORTHERNS ENTRIES DUE NEXT FRIDAY Nominations for the Great Northern Hurdles, and Great Northern Steeplechase and other important events at the Auckland Racing Club's winter meeting at Ellerslie in June close with the secretary.
