MISS STACPOLE'S RECORD fr—; —- . The firirl swimmer, Miss R. Stackpole, who on Thursday night won tho 100 yards senior ladies' backstroke championship of Auckland, succeeded in breaking the New Zealand record for Intermediate girls, put up last December by the British Empire Games representative, Miss J. Macdonald, of Inyercargiil, Miss Stackpole's ' time was -lm 17 l-ss, which bettered the record by three-fifths.of a second. Her performance will be submitted to the council of the New Zealand. Amateur Swimming Association for approval as a record. Minn Stackpole-is only 15 years of age. The performance or 60 4-5s for, 100 yards backstroke by P. E. Mathieson is also to bo brought to the notice of the Now Zealand Council, with the request that it be recognised ns a national record. At present there is no record for this djslance.
