ASSOCIATION GAME
SEASON OPENS TO-DAY thistle to meet ponsonby Good football should be seen at the official opening of "the Soccer season this afternoon fit Blandford Park,-where two first division games will be played. The champion last year, Thistle, has been drawn to meet Ponsonby in the main game. The former team has had vdry little change in-the personnel of its side, and is certain to give an enter-taining-display. On the other hand, Ponsonby has a number of new players, some of whom come from England, and they are sure to provide strength in the team. A fast and thrilling exhibition should be provided in the curtain-raiser between Mount Albert Grammar Old Boys and Metro-Col-lege, while an even contest should ensue at Devonport, when North Shore will play Comrades. Both sides include a number of promoted juniors. F,astern Suburbs will _be strong when it takes the field at St. Helicrs Bay against Y.M.C.A. Abels will be seen without a number of its most prominent players of last season when it meets Onehunga. The latter should provide stern opposition with a number of promoted jnniors in the team. This match will be played at Onehunga. CHELSEA TEAMS The following players will represent the Chelsea Association Football Club at the Outer Domain to-day:— Second Division. —R.
