DEMAND FOR CANDLES
POWER SHORTAGE SEQUEL The restriction on the use of electricity in Invercafgill owing to the power shortage this week found grocers deluged with orders for candles, and several tradesmen have expressed the opinion that the "boom" in the sale of candlesticks was the greatest they had had. Many made their requests for supplies too late, and not a few had to resort to the lighting of ornamental candles.
