EVIDENCE OF LAUNCH OWNER THE MANUKAU FATALTTY - ■ A' '"Had he been sitting in the cockpit instead of standing he might never have been washed overboard," said Edward Wallbank, owner of the fishing launch Ahnora, when giving evidence at an inquest at Onehunga yesterday concerning the drowning of Alfred William Tiseh on April 4. Mr. fisch, who was a fisherman, married, aged about (35, of 317 Queen Street, Onohunga, was lost from the launch when a huge wave struck it while crossing the Manukau bar. Witness said the wave stood tho boat on its beam ends, and by the time the engine could be stopped deceased could be seen in the sea about 50- yards astern. It was impossible to return to pick him up, as the boat would have been swamped if any attempt were made to turn it in such « The coroner. Mr. C. K. Orr ggggjr, S.M., adjourned the inquest sice die.
