OBITUARY

MR. D. P. BURNSIDE The death has occurred of Mr. David Parker Burnside, of Ardmore, near Clevedon, at the ago of 84. Born in Batlnirst, New South Wales, Mr. Burnside came to Auckland with his parents in 1856. Ho returned to Australia for two years about 186.3. In 1870 the family moved to Ardmore, and Mr. Burnside had lived there ever since. He was chairman of the local school committee for a number of years and for a while was a director of the Now Zealand Co-operative Dairy Company. In 1887 he married the fourth daughter of the late Dr. Hale and they celebrated their golden wedding last November. He is survived by his wife, three sons and eight grandchildren. The voungest son was killed in the Great War.

MR. J. P. O'SULLIVAN [BY TELEGRAPH —OWN CORRESPONDENT] TE AWAMUTU, Monday The death has occurred of Mr. John Patrick O'Sullivan, 0110 of the bestknown farmers and sportsmen in the district. Mr. O'Sullivan. who was a menfber of a pioneer Tarnnaki familv, was born at Kakaramoa in 1880. He was formerly a prominent athlete and Rugby footballer, nnd with his brother James, who later became a member of tho 1905 All Black team, achieved a reputation as a forward in Taranaki representative football. About 20 years ago he began farming 011 his own account and acquired a property at Kiokio, near Otorohanga. He later boeanie associated in partnership with his brother-in-law, Mr. Francis Quia, in developing 1111 area of 1400 acres at Te Kawn. Mr. O'Sullivnn was treasurer of the Waipa Racing Club, an executive officer of the 1e Awamutu Golf Club, and a supporter of several other sporting bodies. He is survived by his wife and a brother and sister.

MR. M. KEATING [DY TEl.KG'it Al'H —I'HK.HM ASSOCIATION] GREYMOUTH, Monday The death has occurred of Mr. Michael Keating, clerk to the Grey County Council, after a 6hort illness. He was 52 years of age.
