j SHAREHOLDERS EXONERATED INTERPRETATION OF AWARD [BV TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION] XELSOX. Monday A decision that the intention of tho award was to exonerate shareholder workers ot' a company from being compelled to join the workers' union was given by Mr. T. E. Maunsell, S.M., in a case in which the inspector of awards took action against the Puponga Coal Mine, Limited, for an alleged breach of the award in employing in the mine four persons who were not members ot the union, there being members of the union available for the work required. Tho magistrate held that a clause in the award entitled the company to employ shareholders though they were not unionists.
