SHOP ROBBED
SMASH AND GRAB RAID WATCHES VALUED AT £9O [BY TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION] WELLINGTON, Monday A smash and grab raid in uhich watches valued at about £9O were removed from the premises of J. B. Lauclilan, Limited, watchmakers and jewellers, Woodward Street, A\elling toil, was made in the early hours of Sunday morning. . A nightwatchman in charge or this area of the town made his final visit to the building at about 2.30 o clock and found everything in order. About lo minutes later a loud crash was heard by a constable at the Central 1 °''^ 6 Station, in Waring Tavlor Street. He rushed into Lambton Quay and down toward- the railway station to investigate. Seeing no one about, however, fie came back along the quay past Woodward Street. , Several minutes elapsed befoie fie was able to find where the noise came from and by that time the or persons who had committed the theft had disappeared.
