TRIALS ON SATURDAY JACYNTH SHOWS BRILLIANCE ENGAGEMENTS FOR EASTER [by TELRGKAPH —OWN correspondent] HASTINGS, Saturday The tracks were fast at Hastings to-day. After getting a six lengths' start, Colleen Gain was unable to hold her advantage, Okawa and Earl's Court finishing on terms at the end of live furlongs in 1.3, which made for the latter pair a very fair gallop. Colleen Gain is to racie at Waipukurau and Okawa at Tayliereuikau.

The Waipukurau maiden performer, I{ed Cockade, showed his ability by defeating Haile Selassie over ' six furlongs in. 1.19. The former has now come right after 12 months' training.

Inheritance ran once round in 1.41 and if kept at middle distances may do much better than heretofore.

Bed Witch, who has groatly improved with her Hastings racing, was held in to register 52s for half a mile. She looks like developing good form and may prove a stayer. The Beau Pore filly Bed Shoes, beat Mary Hose in 38s over three furlongs. Hunter's Eve Best Hall-mile

Hunter's Eve, by running half a mile ju 4y£s, did the best gallop for that distance of tho morning. Stie will go to Tauherenikau and will be ridden by the apprentice jockey H. Stowe. Tiger Gam, who is to race at the Wairarapa meeting and Soho were associated once round, the former doing the better in 1.40£5. Tiger Gain was improved by his one race at Hastings. Buster Brown, who will run at Waipukurau, shaded Sliani over six furlongs in 1.171. Shani is improving and should have prospects at the Wairarapa fixture. Tres Sec and Brilliant Acre were on terms after half a mile in 525.

Jaeynth went brilliantly to sprint three furlongs in 365. Two Wairarapa candidates, Co'llodian and Master Hector, registered 1.4-iJ for a round. Tapurau and Felicitation registered 1.32 for seven furlongs. They will race at Waipukurau and Tapurau looks to be an early winner.

lioyal Spades, an entrant for the Wairarapa novice race, easily defeated Trailer ovor five furlongs in 1.4. He is very fit. Poverty Bay ran four in 525, Slippery, five in 1.4, Golden Melody and Peter Warlock, three in 38s. Thala Beats Brunhild Thula had the measure of Brunhild in taking 51$s for half a mile. The latter goes south on Tuesday to contest the Great Easter Handicap. She is a notoriously bad track worker, but the filly looks bigger and brighter than previously this season. Ebb and Flow, with Dusky Crown, strode aver a mile in 1.53. Peter Beckford, who is booked for Tauherenikau, ran five furlongs under restraint in I.o}. This gelding appears to be at the peak of his form. Master Cyklon, pulling hard, registered 1.18 J for six furlongs. He will be ridden in the Easter Handicap at the Wairarapa meeting by Burgess. Hasting West easily accounted for Mahutai and Le Toquet over seven furlongs in 1.32. The former failed over short courses, hut now looks a possibility if raced further. Bold Step was ridden out to register 50is for four furlongs. Sardius was beaten by Hunting Spy over five furlongs in 1,35. It is intended to race both at Tauherenikau.
