CLOSING OF SEASON FRIENDLY GAMES PLAYED WALLACE SCORES CENTURY The cricket season was brought to a close in Auckland on Saturday afternoon when friendly matches commenced the previous week were conducled. Parnell defeated Ponsonby at Eden Park by nine wickets, W. M. Wallace, the New Zealand representative, scoring a century for the winning team. North Shore defeated Papatoetoe at Devonport by 88 runs. FINAL SUBURBAN GAME GREEN LANE BEATS THE REST The Auckland City and Suburban Cricket Association's season closed on Saturday with a match at the Domain between Green Lane, winner of the senior championship, and The Rest. Batting first, The Rest lost four wickets for 45 runs, hut Longville, 31, and Hemmingson, 15, made a stand, and when the time limit of two hours' batting was up the score stood at 98 for eight wickets. Kerr and Barnes were the most successful bowlers, with four wickets for 43 runs and three for 19, respectively. Robinson, who was unbeaten with 60, was chiefly responsible for Green Lane's total being taken to 111 for four wickets at stumps. Robinson scored freely with powerful drives on both sides of the wicket. Barnes wms unfortunate in having to retire with a dislocated shoulder sustained in diving for the crease. Scores:— THE REST A. FRANKLIN ASSOCIATION WARIN CUP TO PUKEKOHE [from our own correspondent] WAIUKU, Sunday The final match in the Franklin Cricket Association's competition this season was played yesterday, when Waiau Pa defeated Waipipi, at Waiuku, by a margin of seven runs. This destroyed a chance Waipipi had of overtaking or drawing level with Pukekohe, which was at the head of the competition with 19 points. Pukekohe is thus the season's winner and, as such, holds the Warin Cup until next season. Waiuku is the runner-up. with 18 points, and Waipipi is in third place, with 17 point* The other teams finished as follows: —Waiau Pa, 15 points; Mauku, 9: Glenbrook, 4; Waitangi, 4. . tWaian Pa batted first in yesterday match and made 91 runs (J. Wright 24, C. Wright 14, Goldsworthy 12, Sheppard 11). Bowling: Cooper took five wickets for 26, Zinzan three for 25, V. Aspin two for 21. Waipipi made 84 (Cooper 28, Gillott 13, Zinzan 10).
