ANNUAL TOURNAMENT PUBLIC SERVICE CLUB LADIES' AND MEN'S EVENTS The second annual tournament of the Public Service Sports Club was played the Windmill Road courts on Saturday morning and attracted a record entry of 120 players, comprising .'SO teams, representative of various Government departments in Auckland. The singles championships for clubs in the Franklin Lawn Tennis Association's district were decided on the Pukekohe courts yesterday. The entries were a record. 10 men and 13 ladies taking part, and play was of a high standard. The men's singles championship of the association was won by I. "Weather conditions were good and a large number of members and visitors attended. The president. Mr. G. "Wright Fulton, commented or what has been a very successful season, and then called on Mrs. S. Clark, wife of the club's patron, to present the various trophies won during the season. CANTERBURY TEAM BEATEN [BY TEI.EGIIAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION] DUNEDIJ*', Sunday A combined Otago-Southland-North Otago lawn tennis team defeated Canterbury at Logan Park yesterday by the narrow margin of nine sets to seven, the final result being in doubt until the last match had been played. The combined team owed its victory in a large measure to the performance of the ladies, who won all their singles and doubles. The Canterbury team was not at full strength.
