ALIEN IN BRITAIN
AFFAIRS OF COMPANY HOME OFFICE INVESTIGATION (Received April 8, 5.5 p.m.) British Wireless RUGBY, April 7 Asked in the House of Commons why an investigation had recently been made into the affairs of British Glycerine Manufacturers, Limited, the Home Secretary, Sir Samuel Hoare, said it was made at the request of the Home Office, in connection with the case of an alien concerned in the company under consideration. A full investigation was being made into all the circumstances and he could add nothing more at the* moment.
The Under-Secretary of the Home Office, Mr. Geoffrey Lloyd, replying to a question in the House of Commons on April 5 as to why the Government had refused to allow Count von der Goltz to land in Britain on March l.'i, stated that the refusal was because it appeared that the purpose of Count von der Goltz's visit was concerned with, an industrial firm which was tinder investigation in connection with the activity of another alien.
