AUCKLAND CHESS CLUB

There was a good attendance at the annual meeting of the Auckland Chess Club. The following officers we.ro elected: —Patron, the Rev. H. B. Wingfield; president, Mr. R. E. Baeyertz: vice-presidents, Mr. A. D. <Tack and Mrs. E. Short; secretary, Mr. L. J. Kiley; assistant secretary, Mr. P. G. Stables; treasurer, Mr. A. L. Fletcher; committee, Messrs. C. B. Newick, N. K W. Barclay. C. J. Taylor and Dr. T. G. Short. The club decided to accept a challenge from the sports committee of the tourist liner Reliance to play a tourist team on the ship on Tuesday night.
