STOCKS AND SHARES
[THE AUCKLAND EXCHANGE SMALL VOLUME OF BUSINESS Business was again very restricted on the Auckland Stock Exchange yesterday. was a fairly full inquiry for gilt-edged securities ajid a few more tvere available, three transactions being recorded during the day. Js T ew Zealands were the strong point jn the banking section, offers showing a further slight advance. Support for Bank of New South Wales and Commercials of Australia, however, was weaker. Insurances were unchanged. Wostport Coal shares were marked flown on sale. Buying support was weaker at the close. Slightly more interest was shown in breweries, and buyers for Dominions advanced their limits at the final call. Broken Hill Proprietary lost ground in a sale 6d lower. The contributing fcsuo was also quoted easier. Robinson Ice improved cn sale, but Woolworths (New Zealand) sold a penny lower. Other chain stores opened with slightly better otters, but levels weakened during the day and closing quotations were about steady.
