SURF CLUB DANCE VISITING TEAMS ENTERTAINED There was a large attendance at a dance arranged by members of the Opotiki Surf Life-Saving Club to entertain members of the visiting teams. The function was held in the Lyric Hall on Saturday night. Supper was served and dancing was enjoyed until midnight. Among those present were:—Mrs. W. Young, Mrs. F. J. Rennett, Mrs. R. A reception was given on Saturday afternoon to the National candidate for the Pay of Plenty electorate, Mr. W. Sullivan, and Mrs. Sullivan, when a large gathering of members and supporters of the party met at the home of .Mrs. John Black, Otara, Opotiki. Afternoon tea was served by members of the women's committee of the party, after which Mr. F. J. Short introduced Mr. and .Mrs. Sullivan. Mr. Sullivan briellv addressed the gathering and Mrs. 0. K. Wilson, president of the Opotiki'women's committee, also spoke. Mrs. K. B. Hutchison and family have returned to Opotiki alter a hoiidav spent in Auckland. Mrs. Gordon Cameron, who has been spending several weeks with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Alan Abbot. Kutarere, has left for Wellington. Miss McLean, matron of the Opotiki hospital, resumed duty this week after a month's holiday. ..... Mrs. Mahoncy visited Opotiki during Iho Aveok-ond, aotinjj; as cliaperone to the Gisborne ladies' surf team. Miss Fay, Moore, Gisborne. paid a brief visit to Opotiki during the weekend.
