TURNING TO LEAGUE
ALL BLACK 1935 FULLBACK ENGLISH OFFER ACCEPTED [by telegraph—OWN correspondent] GREYMOUTH. Monday The All Black fullback on the 1935 tour of Great Britain, G. D. M. Gilbert, has accepted an offer from the Bradford Northern League Club and will leave Lyttelton by the Arawa oil December 31 for England. He will arrive in time for registration to play in cup ties. G. Harrison, the New Zealand Maori representative forward, plays for Bradford Northern. Bradford is one of the leading English League clubs and won its first 10 games this season.
The term of the contract is for three or four years, with a signing-ou fee of £650 and the return fare for Gilbert and his wife and child guaranteed. Airs. Gilbert will leave for England to join her husband early in the new year. Gilbert first came into prominence when he represented Buller as centre threequarter in W, and from 10.31 until last season he has been a West Coast fullback and centre threequarter. He first played for the South Island in 1933 and toured England with tho All Blacks in 1935. Last season Gilbert played in the All Black trials, but he was not selected for the .New Zealand team against the Springboks.
