THEATRE PROJECT
PROPOSAL FOR OTAHUHU BUILDING TO COST £20,000 The erection of a new theatre at Otahului at ail estimated cost of £20,000 was outlined in advice received at the Otahuhu Borough Council meeting last night. The promoter of the project submitted plans and preliminary specifications for the erection of a building on a sito adjoining the Masonic Hall on the Great South Hoad. The seating capacity would be for almost 1000. Rest accommodation and conveniences were included in the plans, and it was proposed to make the facilities available to the public daily. The council was requested to give its approval to the issue of the desired licence.
The Mayor, Mr. C. R. Petrie, M.P., said the application had to go before the Bureau of Industries, which would consider all the facts and make recommendations to tho Minister. Tho council had no authority to grant any licence.
On tho motion of Mr. F. W. Grey, it was decided to lake no action.
