FATAL COLLISION

ACCIDENT NEAR TE HANA BANK EMPLOYEE'S DEATH Injured in a motoring accident near To Han a. on Saturday night, Mr. Dennis Taylor, aged 27, employed at the Wcllsford branch of the Bank of Now Zealand, died early on Sunday morning at the Wcllsford Cottage Hospital. Mr. J. I). Sellar, electrician, of Wcllsford, -who was driving the motorcar in which Mr. Taylor was a passenger, suffered severe bruises, an injured knee and shock. The car in which the two men were travelling was going from Wellsford to Hakaru about 10 p.m., when it collided with a parked car a few miles soutli of Te Hana. After the impact the car mounted a bank, ran along it until it hit a stump, and crashed down on to the road again. The roof and doors were torn off, and the car practically wrecked. The parked car was empty. An inquest was opened at Warkwortli yesterday before the coroner. Mr. A. J. S. Wirin, and adjourned after formal evidence.

Mr. Taylor was tho elder son of Mrs. M. A. Taylor, of Auckland, and the late Quartermaster-Sergeant It. Taylor, of Barrowford, Lancashire. A brilliant student, he was dux in his final year at the Auckland Grammar School, and gained his Banking Diploma at Auckland University College in 1933. Before joining the Wellsford branch of the bank two years ago he was stationed at Newmarket and Te Awamutu. He was a keen sportsman, being a member of the Alpine Sports Club and secretary-treasurer of the Wellsford Tennis Club. He was also in charge of the St. Barnabas' troop of Rovers.
