OBITUARY
NEW ZEALAND SOLDIER LIEUTENANT-COLONEL BUCKLEY (Received November 15, 11.35 p.m.) LONDON. Nov. 15 The death has occurred of Lieuten-ant-Colonel George Alexander Mac Lean Buckley, formerly of New Zealand. Lieutenant-Colonel Buckley was born at H'entheotc Vnllov, Xew Zealand, on October 20, 1860. the second son of the late Mr. George Buckley. He was educated at Christ's College, Christchurch, New Zealand, and Cheltenham College, England. He entered the Army in ISBS and served in the East Lancashire and Hampshire Regiments and the New Zealand Defence Force until 1900. He was captain in the 12th : Battalion, Hampshire Regiment, 1914, and served in the Great War 1914-17, winning tho D.S.O. in 1916. He commanded the 7th Leinster Regiment, 47th Brigade, 16th (Irish) Division 1915.
Lieutenant-Colonel Buckley was a member of an exploration party to Patagonia. 1597 and of the Shackleton British Antarctic Expedition 1908. He was made a C.B.E. in 1919.
