Mr. I?. McVeagh was a passenger for Wellington by the afternoon express yesterday.

Mr. R. Yj. Price, Conciliation Commissioner, left for Wellington by the limited express last night.

Sir Charles Norwood, of Wellington, who recently underwent an operation, is not recovering as well as had been hoped.

Captain H. M. Foster, formerly of Whangarei, has arrived in Christchurch to take over the duties of area staff officer of Area No. 10, Southern Command.

Major R. S. Hunter-Blair, of Canterbury, and Mrs. Hunter-Blair. are passengers by the Tamaroa, which is duo at Wellington to-day from Southampton.

Mr. T. W. J. Buxton, patron of the Auckland Trotting Club, and Mr. A. G Mabee, secretary, left for Wellington by train yesterday, on their way to Christchurch.

Mr. G. M. Dillon, New Zealand manager for Warner .Brothers Pictures, was a passenger by the limited express from Wellington yesterday morning. He is at the Central Hotel.

Mr. H. Gatty, special representative of Pan American Airways in New Zealand and Australia, is visiting the Taupo district. He will probably return to Auckland at the week-end.

Mr. -T. O'Brien, M.P. for Westland, was elected yesterday by tbe New Zealand branch of the Empire Parliamentary Association to represent the association at the celebrations to. be held in New South Wales in January to commemorate tho 150 th anniversary of Australia.

Sir Howard d'Egville, secretary of ihe United Kingdom branch of the Empire Parliamentary Association, will visit New Zealand'after attending the celebrations to be held early next year to commemorate the 150 th anniversary of Australia. He expects to arrive at Auckland on February li.

The Rev. Stuart Stevens, pastor of the Church of Christ 'in Moorhouse Avenue, Christchurch, has been invited to become minister of the Enmore Tabernacle, the principal church of the denomination in S3 T dnev, in succession to Dr. A. McKenzie Meld rum. Mr. Stevens is president of the Christchurch Ministers' .Association,and of the Norta Canterbury Christian Endeavour Lnion.
