DIOCESAN SYNOD OPENED Clergy from all parts of the Auckland Anglican Diocese attended at St. Mary's Hall, Parnell, yesterday for the opening of the third session of the 28tb Synod of the Diocese. In the morning a short service was held in the cathedral and the presidential address was delivered by the Primate of New Zealand, Archbishop Averill. In the afternoon members proceeded with the business of synod, and notice to move motions on controversial issues was given by a number of the clergy and laity. Synod also considered reports of committees and commissions, both in the afternoon and at night. A conference of lay members will be held this morning and this afternoon, and at night further general business will be taken.
