HOWICK CHURCH

BEQUEST OF FARMER FUND FOR REBUILDING CREATION OF A TRUST Further particulars of the bequest made by tho late Mr. Henry Haseler for the eventual rebuilding in permanent materials ol All Saints Church, Howick, became available yesterday, following the granting of probate of his will by the Supremo Court. Mr. Haseler, whoso death occurred on August 14, was formerly a stock* valuer in Taranaki and Auckland. Somo years ago ho purchased Hloak House Farm, of *l2 acres, near Howick, and lived there for tho remainder of his life. Probate of tho will was granted to Mr. H. P. Richmond, tho lc f?al Jinn of Huddle, Richmond and Huddle, us executor, and tho estate was sworn nt under £3900. Tho will provides certain specific legacies, and gives a lile interest in the residue to the testator's widow, who, however, died only tlireo days i'.fter her husband. It is directed that the estate shall bo held upon trust for the General Trust Hoard of the Anglican Diocese of Auckland, and allowed to accumulate for 21 years or for tho balance of that term after the expiry of tho lifo interest, or until it reaches £25,000, whichever is tho earlier. The fund then available is to bo applied, alone or with other moneys niado available for tin; purpose, to rebuilding the parish church at Howick in permanent materials, in such manner as the Trust Hoard considers advisable. Tho rebuilding must be substantially completed within 50 years of tho testator's death. However, should tho. present church be in any way suddenly destroyed, the fund may be used for rebuilding when it has reached the total of £7500. Should there be a surplus after tli.o building is completed, it is to he devoted, first, -to repairs, maintenance, and improvement of tho church building and precincts, and then to charitable and religious purposos of the parish. If for any reason the, trust becomes void, the estate may bo used for tho last-named purposes.
