CLAUDE NICHOL RETURNS SUCCESSFUL VISIT TO FIJI Looking very fit and bigger than when he left New Zealand for Fiji, Claude Nicliol, the popular Australian heavy-weight boxer, returned to Auckland on Monday after enjoying a most successful trip. He won all his four contests in Suva. Nicliol was unbeaten in New Zealand until he met Leo Kelly in a contest in which he was well ahead on points up to the time when ho had to retire with an injured arm. Lt is possible that the Auckland Boxing Association will match Nicliol with the winner of the heavy-weight contest between Muir and Lindsav to be held on August <J. Lindsay made his debut as a professional against Jack Rainsford and created a fine impression. Since then the assreiat'on has been endeavouring to give the promising local boxer another chance to show his ability, and it has been decided to match him with Muir, of Southland, who was runner-up to Lindsay in the New Zealand championships/ With the Lindsay-Muir contest and the winner to meet Claude Nichol. the association has the makings of an interesting heavy-weight series. Young Giklo, after fulfilling his engagement wichj&hnrpo at Blenheim, llew to Timaru to meet Jack Jarvis. He will again meet Jarvis at Wellington to-morrow week and the following week will oppose Clarrie Haynor at Blenheim. The Filipino, when he leaves the Dominion, will have no cause to complain regarding a dearth of opponents. Billy Martin will light Jerry Leonard at Oisborne next Saturday, and on the same date the Waihi Boxing Association will stage the South Auckland championships. A week later at Hamilton the Auckland Association will hold the Waikato championships. A number of local amateurs will compete at Waihi and Hamilton.
