IMMIGRATION LAWS
DOMINION'S DOOR OPEN
ENTRY OF BRITISH SUBJECTS
[BY TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION*] NAPIER, Monday
"There is nothing to prevent any person of British birth and parentage, being of European race and colour, from coming into New Zealand for permanent residence, subject to the usual conditions as to health and character," stated the Hon. \\ . E. Barnard. M.P., president of the New Zealand Five Million Club, to-day. ''There appears to be so much misunderstanding on the subject that it seems necessary to state what the law is," he continued. '"Special restrictions were imposed by the Immigration Kestriction Amendment Act, 1931, but this Act has now expired. While the New Zealand authorities naturally do not desire to see British people coming .here without adequate resources, no boua-fide British migrant from the UW Country will be prevented from landing on our shores. . . . f "Large-scale immigration is, or course, a matter upon which Governments must be consulted, but for individual immigrants who are of Bntisn stock, as defined above, the way into New Zealand is open." . Mr. Barnard added that intending immigrants from Great Britain woukj be well advised to consult reliable sources before contemplating plans to migrate to the Dominion. The Million Club would be pleased to furnish on request the necessary tion or advice.
