MEMBERS OF NEW BOARD RETICULATION PROPOSAL [by telegram—OWN correspondent] IvAITAIA, Saturday As there was only one nomination for the Kaitaia town area representative on the newly-formed Bay of Islands Power Board, that of Mr. Lloyd Peace, he has been duly elected. Messrs. H. H. Thompson and E. F. Bradley were the only candidates nominated for the two representatives required for Mangonui County and they havo been elected. Mr. Peace is a member of the Kaitaia Town Board, which he represented at the meetings of local authorities prior to the formation of the Power Board. Mr. Thompson is a member of the Mangonui County Council, its representative on the No. 1' Highways Council and one of the representatives I of the council at the conferences. Mr. Bradley is a retired electrical and mining engineer with experience in many countries.
The decision to form a power board in the far north was arrived at after various conferences of loc.il authorities and the area includes the Bay of Islands County and part of the Mangonui County, with the Kaitaia and Kaikohe town areas. The Whnngaroa County and the Hokianga County did riot favour the formation of the hoard. The estimate of the cost of the reticulation of the district with power from Arapuni is £27,000, but before any work can be commenced the sanction of the ratepayers to the raising of a loan for this purpose has to be obtained. At present the board is without any funds, the initial expenditure being borne by the Bay of Islands and Mango* nui County Councils and the Kaitaia and Kaikoho Town Boards.
