GOLF CONTESTS

NORTH SHORE TOURNAMENT The annual summer open amateur championship and handicap tournament will lie conducted by the North Shore Golf Club on Monday. Tuesday and Wednesday of next week. Events on Monday arc a qualifying round of ;!ii holes, medal play (in to qualify) for the open amateur championship, and tiic North Shore handicap, in which the second Hi in the qualifying rounds will compete in match play on handicap. On Tuesday these two events will lie continued, match play over 18 holes. In the morning a bogey handicap of 18 holes will be played and in the afternoon a medal handicap, 18 holes. The semi-finals of the championship and North Shore handicap events and a Stableford bogey handicap, 18 holes, will bo played on Wednesday morning and tho finals and a four-ball bogey handicap will ho decided in the afternoon. Judging by the entries to band, from Christclnirch, Wellington, Feilding, Wanganui, Whangarei and Dargavillc, apart from the local clubs, there is every indication of a record tournament. Sunday next will be an open day for amateurs and professionals, three matches being arranged—36 holer gross, IS holes net and IS holes Stableford.
