CLAY-BIRD SHOOTING
TAKAPUNA CLUB'S EVENTS A very successful Christmas clay-bird shoot, was held by Iho Takapuna Gun Ciub at their club's grounds, Barry's Point, Takapuna. There was a large attendance of shooters and visitors. A series of six matches was staired over the new automatic trap and each shooter won at least one trophy during the afternoon. Four seven-bird Christmas shoots were decided under the points system and Mr. A. E. Macredie put up tho best average with 40 points out of a possible 50. The next best scores were: E. Monteith, 47; A. J. Ilanigan, 40; J. McGregor, II; F. KaySt rat ton, L. ,T. Henderson, J. Mills, 41. .Detailed results are as follows: Seven-bird Eye-opener.—A. J. Hanigan, 18yds, A. E. Macredie, 1 Byds, A. E. Robinson, 13yds, F. Kay-Stratton, 17yds, and W. R. Ayton, l'Jyds, shot the possible and divided the sweepstake. J. Mills, 10yds, shot six birds. First Seven-bird Christmas Match.—J. Mills, 10yds, 1; A. E. Macredie, 18yds, 'J; E. Monteith, 11yds, 3; L. ,7. Henderson, 18yds, 1; .7. McGregor, I'J.vds, 5. Possibles in this match were secured by McGregor, Macredie, Mills, Monteith and Baxter. Second Seven-bird Christmas Match. F. Kay-Stratton, 17yds, I; I,T. Henderson, I.Byds, 'J; A. .7. Hanigan, IByds, ,'i; I",. Moneith, 15yds, 4: A. 10. Hohliisbn. I.'i.vds, 5. Possibles were scored in this match by Kay-SI ration, Hani can and Henderson. Third Seven-bird Christmas Match.—in this match the shooters competed for the ladies and Mesdames Powlo and Kay-Stratton were the winners of trophies. Scores:—A. E. Macredie, 'JOyds, 1; Monteith, 15yds, 'J; A. J. Hanigan, IDyds, 1,. J. Henderson, 20yds, 4; .T. McGrcgar, l'Jyds, 5. Possibles were registered by Hanigan, Monteith and Baxter, 14yds. Fourth Seven-bird Christmas Match.—.T. Cameron, 14yds, 1; W. R. Ayton, l'Jyds, 'J; A. .7. Hanigan, '2oyds, .'J; A. E. Macredie, 23yd«, 4; E. Monteith, I7,vds, 5. Possibles were secured by Ayton and Cameron. Seven-bird Gimcrac.k Match l'Jyds back each hit). —A. ,7. Hanigan (15 to 27yds), shot tho possible and won outright the first sweepstake. A. E. Robinson, 11 to 'J 1 yds, shot six birds, and won the second swofipf-tako. A. E. Macredie, 15 to 25yds, and J. Henderson, sen., 11 to 10yds, shot fivo birds each.
