NEW GRANDSTAND
TE AWAMUTU BUILDING ADDITION TO SPORTS GROUND [BY TELEGRAPH —OWN CORRESPONDENT] TE AWAMUTU, Monday A successful gala was held at Te Awamutu on Saturday afternoon to mark the official opening of a grandstand and general-purpose building at Albert Park, tho chief sports ground of tho town. Tho stand was declared open by Mr. W. J. Broadfoot, M.P. A sports programme and entertainment followed. Tho new grandstand has seating accommodation for 450 people. There is a largo hall underneath, which is to bo used for training. The total cost of tho building was £I6OO, the greater part of which has been raised by public subscription at a queen carnival. In opening the new stand, Mr. Broadfoot congratulated the organisers of tho carnival and the townspeople of Te Awamutu on the fine building. Ho also paid a tribute to those who gave their time and money to raisa £IOOO in six weeks. The town now possessed a building suitable not only for tho annual show of the agricultural and pastoral association, but also ono which would be invaluablo to the territorials both for training and for tho storage of their equipment.
