PURSUIT OF CAR
[HAMILTON TO THAMES CONVERSION ADMITTED TWELVE MONTHS' DETENTION [frou our own correspondent] HAMILTON. Monday A sequel to a chase from Hamilton to Thames after a. missing taxicab on Saturday evening was a case heard in the Hamilton Police Court to-day, when Samuel Phillips Brown, aged 26, pleaded guilty to a charge of converting a 'car to his own use and to driving a car without a licence. Senior-Sergeant G. H. Lambert said that accused, during the taxi-driver's temporary absence, took the car from Frankton, and was pursued by tho owner, Mr. H. Deverell, and Constable Richardson. Accused was arrested at Thames by a traffic inspector, Mr. W. Johnstone, and was handed over to the police. Accused had recently served a sentence for a similar offence at .Wanganui. The magistrate, Mr. S. L. Paterson, imposed a sentence of 12 months' reformative detention.
