PROFESSIONAL CHAMPION DENSMORE SHUTE'S SUCCESS (Received November 23, 6.50 p.m.) NEW YORK, Nov. 22 The national professional golfers' championship at Pinehnrst, North Carolina, was won to-day by Densmore Shute, aged 32, professional to the Brae Burn Club, Massachusetts. He defeated James Thompson three and two in a 26-hole round. Horton Smith was among other competitors beaten. Shute's skilful iron shots and 30-foot putts enabled him to win easily. The winner is the son of a professional. He gained national recognition as an amateur in 1923 and won the British open title in 1932. GAME IN AFRICA WESTERN PROVINCE TITLE ALFRED PADGHAM WINS CAPETOWN, Nov. 22 The Western Province golf championship was won to-day by Alfred Padgham with a score of 268. S. Brews and W. J. Cox tied for second place with 284.
