ELABORATE REQUIREMENTS BRITISH DOCTOR'S STATEMENT LONDON, Nov. 20 "There is no doubt that euthanasia (easy death) is practised by medical moil in Britain, and I have no reason to think it is not done in a proper and honourablo way," stated Dr. Roche Lynch, Home Office analyst, during a discussion to-day on voluntary euthanasia at a meeting of the Hunterian Society. .Referring to Lord Ponsonb.v's bill, which was introduced in the Houso of Lords on November 6, Dr. Lvncli said it would defeat its object by its elaborate requirements. "Is it not better to leave undisturbed a practice which has been carried on from time immemorial?" ho asked Lord Ponsonby introduced his euthanasia bill in tlio House of Lords on November 6. According to the bill the painless termination of life is subject to the permission of the patient, who must be of ago and suffering from an incurable illness involving severe pain. The patient must make a written application, accompanied by two medical certificates to a referee. Euthanasia would bo allowed to be administered only in the presence of an official witness and bv licensed doctors. The bill would not apply to Scotland or to the North of Ireland.
